Coordination

The Huron Respite Network Coordinator will work with the caregiver to identify respite options and develop a respite plan.

 Screening

The Huron Respite Network screens families or persons who will provide respite in the home and in the community to best meet the needs of the person and family.

 Host Families

The Huron Respite Network screens families or individuals who welcome a person with special needs into their home for regular or occasional respite. The individual requesting respite enjoys the interaction and becomes involved in the activities shared by members of the host family. For more information click here.

In-Home Respite Providers

The Huron Respite Network screens individuals who will provide respite by coming into the home of the individual or family requesting respite. In-home respite works well for people whose needs are best met in their own homes. For more information click here.

Is There A Cost?

There is a moderate cost per day.  Families/people who cannot afford the fee may be considered for a subsidy available through the Huron Respite Network.  To be eligible for respite subsidy a person must meet the criteria of one of the available five subsidies.

Please be advised in most circumstances these subsidies are available for 12 month periods.  Should you wish to access a subsidy again you should contact the Respite Coordinator prior to your current service agreement ends.  Respite services are provided based on available resources and there is no guarantee the same service or amount of service will be available on an ongoing basis.  For more information about Subsidies click here.
